A Sacred Ground Dance Weekend Retreat
at Sky Meadow Retreat in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. This community building form of dance requires no
previous experience and builds on simple, ancient dance steps passed
down through all cultures in the name of peace.
In dancing, you will refresh your intention to be
peace, contacting the deep stillness beneath the hurly
burly as well as the wild fires of joy and hope that kindle
our best selves.
This dance weekend runs
from early Friday evening to Sunday afternoon and includes
two suppers, two lunches, and two breakfasts, with snacks in
between. All food is vegetarian and lovingly and
mindfully prepared with many foods grown in the peace-filled Sky
Meadow gardens.
This dance retreat honours Earth as a vital means of
creating peace, supporting with its food practices the 'localvore'
movement providing locally grown foods without poisons as
part of the global sustainability movement that is halting
and even reversing global warming.
Our dancing begins on Friday, after supper
and orientation to the retreat practices and grounds,
continues throughout Saturday in three dance circles,
one following each meal, and concludes after a Sunday, full,
post-breakfast session and a briefer closing dance
circle after lunch.
The cost for the weekend, including restful, harmonious
shared accommodation, food, and dance is $280 US.
For those participants who have never been to Vermont
in leaf turning season, the fall equinox in these ancient green hills
is dazzling.

For information about our setting, visit www.skymeadowretreat.com About Jane Buchan and Lynn Hartwood Welcome to Sacred Ground Dance. We are Jane and Lynn, members of Vermont’s North East Queen/Kingdom community, called to dance through our creative connections with Earth and all species. Our dance circles are containers for kindness, goodwill, joy, and the polishing of connections within the self and the larger community. The music we set our dances to comes from all cultures and our dances build on ancient dance traditions whose simple movements provided a way for our ancestors to express the full spectrum of human emotions as they welcomed new souls, marked life passages, celebrated unions, mourned their dead, and reverently acknowledged their Earth home. Separately, we have been facilitating dance circles since the early nineties. Since 1999 we have been dancing together, consciously balancing through our sacred union the male and female energies present in each person. We have shared our dances at a variety of events, including the East Coast Crop Circle Conference, a Sacred Sites tour in Britain, on-going Full Moon Dances, Dance Camps in Canada and the US, and special Sacred Ground Dance weekends celebrating major solar and earth festivals, specific life passages, and community reunions. As practising artists, we find in dance a wonderful bridge from the solitary work of writer and visual artist to the larger, heart-centered community. Dance is a flowering of our work as creators of Sacred Space. For more information about Sacred Ground Dance and its facilitators, or to arrange for a Sacred Ground Dance event, please call Jane and Lynn at (802) 533-9277 or email jane_circledances@yahoo.ca (Please note: there is an underscore ( _ )after jane in the email address, and a .ca, indicating Canada, rather than the usual .com.) |
